Bear Hunt Info
We offer some of the best hunting territory in Northwestern Ontario for Black Bear. We have over 500 square miles of Bear Management Area with dozens of baited tree stands which are accessible by road or water. Our success rate the last 10 years averaged around 80%- 85%. To ensure a high success rate, we book a maximum of 4 to 6 hunters per week.
The fall bear hunt commences August 15th (bow and rifle) and runs through to the end of September. We start baiting tree stands three weeks prior to the hunters’ arrival and re-baiting is done as necessary to maintain active stands
Black bears are more active in the early morning then again in the late afternoon until dark. We like to have the hunters on their stands between 3 and 4 PM for the first few days of the hunt. You have all morning to fish and relax. There is also an option to be on your stands in the early morning, then return to fish for a few hours and return to your stand in the late afternoon. You will be picked up shortly after sunset. Please contact us for further information.
We provide two stands per hunter. Baiting commences 4 weeks in advance. We start baiting with meat and then once a baited site is active we bait with oatmeal syrup molasses and table scraps. We check and bait each site daily. In the week prior to your arrival we bait stand sites for three days then hold off for one day before the hunter arrives. We bait our stand sites everyday during the hunt. We have bow and rifle stands with cleared shooting ranges of 10 - 100 yards. Stands are 5 - 25 feet high. We use three to four trees to build a deck and a railing rest. Hunters are taken to stand around 3 PM and are picked up at dark. If a bear is hit the guide will track it and dress it. Fishing is included. A hunter may fish in the morning of our bear hunt or if you prefer we can place you on a stand just before daylight and pick you up around noon. You may fish for the afternoon and then return to your stand around 3 PM and stay till dark. Our stands are located in creek beds on the opposite side of the river and well away from the lodge. Stands are located 200-600 yards in from the shoreline. View our bear hunt photos.
